Eva-Maria Koskinen is a Helsinki-based filmmaker from a bilingual family. Her debut series Pojken i grannhuset / The Boy Next Door (Aamu Film Company) premiered on YLE and across the Nordics in fall 2025, earning a Venla Award shortlisting for best fiction script and nominations for the Finnish Writers Guild’s Colleague’s Prize and the Sylvi Award for TV writing (pending). Koskinen’s work contains bold topics and empathetic strong stories that make her audiences feel and think. She is fascinated by the silence between people and the invisible forces active there. Koskinen writes in a warm and empathetic tone and engages her viewers with suspense and thrill.
A former reporter, producer and manager in journalism she finished her screenwriting studies at Aalto University 2018. Apart from working as a permanent script consultant at Svenska Yle she has written and directed award winning shorts (Spiral 2022, Aamu Film Company) and audio drama (Station Dreams 2024, Yle).
Koskinen speaks and writes Swedish and Finnish as her mother tongue and has a good written English. Through her half German child she has connections to Germany and speaks German fluently.
