Krista Hannula is a filmmaker with extensive experience in film, television, and stage projects. She holds an MA in Screenwriting from Aalto University’s ELO Film School and brings a wide range of skills as a writer, including concept development and creating original ideas.
Krista wrote and produced her first feature film, which premiered in 2014, followed by A Mother (2019), nominated for the Finnish Jussi Awards in 2020. She co-produced the box-office hit Wingman the Movie: All In (2024), one of the most watched films in Finnish cinemas that year. Her first reality TV series as a writer-director premiered on Yle in 2023 and was quickly renewed for a second season. She has also written and directed several short films, among the most memorable are the dark comedy Doctor Johansson (2020), which toured international festivals, and Cave (2024), a children’s horror short for Yle, which gave her the opportunity to explore one of her favorite genres. In November 2025, her documentary series The Denial of Death – Antti Tuisku premiered on Yle, with episodes streamed over 500,000 times within the first weeks.
As a writer and director, Krista’s work is rooted in her dual role: shaping stories on the page and guiding them on set. She has built a career bringing original ideas to life, focusing on strong characters, tension, and compelling narrative structures. Her experience spans developing concepts, writing scripts, directing actors, and producing projects, making her a filmmaker who is equally engaged in the creative vision and its execution.
